Surviving J.J Smith’s 10-day Green Smoothie Cleanse

10-days of just drinking smoothies! Sounds like torture right? Well it was, kinda (lol). Deciding to do this cleanse for the top of the new year was a decision I made in mid December…after I failed at trying this previously that month. I knew I had been eating terribly during the holiday season and that my body deserved to be cleansed and renewed as I was going into a new year and one of my top goals for the year is to improve my health so beginning with a cleanse was a no brainer.

I followed this cleanse  online but I also have the book. The recipes do differ a bit but I think that’s just due to things changing over time. Everything you need to know about this cleanse can be found on this website, from the grocery list, to the side effects, to the do’s and don’ts.

Most of the recipes were good and easy to go gown but a few were nasty and I just drunk them because I had to. Overall they were all tolerable and nothing made me gag or anything like that.

You have the option to eat one meal a day that consists of vegetable and grilled chicken or fish and I did eat throughout the 10 days. I did not eat every night though, only when I was truly hungry. Eating may impact the amount of weight that you do lose, so keep that in mind if you do decide to try this. I also ate the snacks that you’re allowed to (unsalted nuts, boiled eggs, crunchy veggies) throughout the day so that helped to break up the monotony of the smoothies.

In the end I lost 9 pounds, 2.75″ in my waist, 1.5″ from my left thigh, 2″ from my right thigh, and .5″ from my hips. I was super impressed with my results. I even think that my appetite has gotten smaller because when I ate my first meal back I couldn’t even finish it but I’m not mad at that at all.

After completing this cleanse I don’t want to go back to my old eating habits. I felt bloated and sluggish and that ain’t cute. I’ve decided to start eating cleaner and finding healthier alternatives for some of my not so healthy favorites. Doing this with my family also gave me the push I needed to continue and it’s nice making these changes with others doing it with you as well. The teamwork was a great motivating factor.

Overall this cleanse was the jumpstart for my new, healthier way of life and I think I’m heading in the right direction. Keep up with the rest of my journey on Instagram @Myaangelic (follow me, duh!) Also, let me know below if you decide to try this cleanse and how your experience was. I plan on blogging healthy recipes that I try that can help to fill those unhealthy voids so stay tuned for that as well!
